Jason K. Branning, CFP®
Jason is CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner specializing in retirement planning at BWM, LLC. He served as a contributing author for the Financial Planning Association’s (FPA) general public website. Jason helped to found Modern Retirement Theory, the comprehensive retirement planning process that offers customized solutions for each individual retiree. Jason’s articles Modern Retirement Theory and Using a Hierarchy of Funds to Reach Client Goals (with M. Ray Grubbs, Ph.D.) have been published in The Journal of Financial Planning’s Retirement Income Special Report. As well, content from these works appear in the Retirement Management Analyst textbook and the Retirement Income Certified Professional® curriculum.
Jason’s quotes and retirement theory have been referenced in outlets including Forbes, MarketWatch, CNBC, Morningstar, NASDAQ.com, Bogleheads.com, and Advisor Perspectives. He has served on The Journal of Financial Planning’s Advisory Board (2010-2014) and has been a peer reviewer for the Retirement Management Journal. Branning has also served as an expert witness for FINRA arbitration. In 2014, Jason was appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the state Senate to serve on the College Savings Mississippi Board.
Branning is married with 4 children and is active in his local church. He is an honors graduate of Mississippi College with a B.A. in English and holds a certificate in Financial Planning from Florida State University. His hobbies are reading and running.
Kelly J. Jennings
Kelly Jennings is an Advisor at BWM, LLC. He is a graduate of the University of Miami’s School of Business where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.
While in college, Kelly interned with Bank of America in Miami, Florida. Post graduation, Kelly played professional football for six years in Seattle and Cincinnati. Kelly enjoyed playing professional football, but above all, he values the relationships he was able to make with fellow athletes.
Kelly’s passion for people led him to Jackson, MS, where he earned his Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Reformed Theological Seminary. This background in both finance and counseling gives Kelly a unique perspective and skill set in the financial planning industry. Kelly is currently pursuing an Executive Certificate in Financial Planning from the University of Miami and is a Certified Financial Planner® Certificant Student.
Kelly is married with four kids. He has an active role in homeschooling his children as well as nurturing their spiritual growth. Kelly enjoys reading, sports, and spending time with his family.
J. Brent Burns, MBA
Brent brings more than a decade of financial and investment experience to his work in applying academic research to the development of practical and innovative portfolio strategies. Brent’s deep background in empirical finance helped form the basis for all of Asset Dedication’s modeling and analysis. Brent holds an MBA with honors from the University of San Francisco and a BS from the University of California, Berkeley.
Stephen J. Huxley, Ph.D.
A recognized leader in finance, investing and economics, Stephen has more than 35 years of experience researching and applying decision theory to real world problems. His prize-winning research in scheduling led to the development of the Asset Dedication approach, which applies a time and goals-based approach to asset allocation. Stephen is a tenured Professor of Decision Sciences at the University of San Francisco. Stephen won the National Franz Edelman Award for Outstanding Achievement in Management Science, the highest award given by the profession, for his work in scheduling. He first applied his scheduling research to the construction of investment strategies in the late 1990’s. This work ultimately led to the book Asset Dedication: How to Grow Wealthy with the Next Generation of Asset Allocation (McGraw-Hill, 2004), which he co-authored with Brent Burns. Stephen holds a doctorate in economics from the University of California at San Diego and an undergraduate degree in business and statistics from Ohio State University.
Jeremy Fletcher, CFA
Jeremy has been in fixed income management since 1991. Most recently he co-managed the $3.5 billion fixed income investment pool at the City and County of San Francisco, where he created and implemented the strategy to deliver safety, liquidity, and yield to the pool’s constituents while providing cash flows for daily operations. Previously, he was a portfolio manager responsible for over $2 billion in fixed income assets at American Century Investments, including directing the firm-wide strategy for inflation-linked products and managing the firm’s series of zero-coupon funds. Jeremy launched the firm’s flagship inflation-linked fund in February 1997 along with the debut of the U.S. inflation-linked market. In 2000, he managed one of the top-performing U.S. fixed income funds in the United States. Jeremy earned his BA in Economics/Mathematics from Claremont McKenna College and holds an MBA from the University of San Francisco. He became a CFA charterholder in 2000.
